The Kingdom of God

In the first Sunday of the Great Lent, we hear the words of our Savior saying to us, “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all His righteousness” (Mt 6:33). As a Good Shepherd, He is guiding us back, in a way, to the Garden of Eden, where we were covered, supported, preserved, accepted, spared, nourished, and loved. For us to seek the kingdom of God, we must overcome the desires of our bodies, which drove us out of paradise. Now we are driven by the flesh, but we can also be driven by our spirits. Our spirits can take charge of our bodies and rule over our bodies. Or spirits can direct us toward the heavens and let us seek the kingdom of God. Following the beautiful words of St. Augustine, God made us for Himself and our hearts are restless until they take rest in Him. Let us seek the Kingdom of God and take rest in Him.
