Mary our Model

In today’s gospel taken from Lk 1:39-56, the Theotokos quickly went to Elizabeth to help her during Elizabeth’s last three months of pregnancy. Mary is a true servant, and her desire is for Christ, who is the “Desire of all Nations” (cf Isaiah 26:8-9) and shows us the model of service. Better than any ordained minister or any martyr, Mary expresses her deepest love for God in her devoted service to Him. Her praise of God, known as the Magnificat is a model for any Christian devoted to serving the Lord. The service of the Lord is the most perfect life a human can live. Listen to the homily and take this example to heart. May the Theotokos pray for us to love God as much as we possibly can.
