Hastening the Coming of the Lord

Where is our life oriented? Today’s reading from Mt 24:3-35 were our Savior’s words about the end times. The early Church was focused intently on the Second Coming of our Savior, always praying for the Lord to come. We need to regain this desire for the Lord to come. Let us eagerly prepare for our Savior’s coming, and train our eyes and hearts to seek after it.

My favorite verses from the readings today:

2 Thess 2:16-17 - Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

2 Pet 3:11-13 - Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
