Church Must Raise the Dead

In Last Sunday’s Gospel, we heard the great miracle of our Savior raising the only-begotten son of the widow of Nain (Lk 11:7-17). Our Savior came to earth to destroy the power of death (and sin) over us. He has also given this power, authority, and mission to the Church, His Body, to continue in the world. Members of the Church must be committed to this mission, to raise the dead. This mission is fulfilled through the preaching of the Gospel and believing in the power of the Gospel, that it can raise the dead. May our Lord renew our minds and hearts to continue his mission and work toward raising the spiritually dead in the world.
