Community, Patience, Mercy
The story of the Paralytic Man (Jn 5:1-18) offers us many beautiful contemplations for us to draw nearer to God. First, we contemplate the power of community. A community was necessary to help this man get into pool, and it was lacking. Let us work toward creating a community to help one another—through prayer and action. Second we contemplate the virtue of patience—”I patiently waited for the Lord” (Psalm 40:1). We wait for the Lord and He will always answer us. Lastly, we contemplate on the great mercy of the Lord. He is merciful and cannot be otherwise. In His mercy, He deals with us and cares for us, as He cared for this paralytic man.
